PORTLAND — Like all Portland performing arts groups, the Broadway in Portland series was forced to postpone all performances as the coronavirus pandemic spread around the world last spring. Among the productions put on hold was a month-long return engagement of the smash show “Hamilton,” which was set for this spring.

In a sign of optimism, the musical presenter on Wednesday announced updated plans for its next season, including the return of “Hamilton” next year. The series was able reschedule all but two of the productions that were in the original 2020-2021 season.

While it’s unclear if Oregon’s vaccine roll-out will go smoothly enough to allow large gatherings as early as late summer is unclear. So maybe mark these dates on your calendar in pencil.

Here’s the lineup:

“Jesus Christ Superstar” (Aug. 31-Sept. 5, 2021): Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular rock opera based on the New Testament.

“Mean Girls” (Nov. 10-14, 2021): Musical adaptation of the popular teen film about high school angst.

“The Band’s Visit” (Jan. 4-9, 2022): Tony Award-winning adaptation of an indie Israeli film about an Egyptian military band stranded in Israel.

“Hamilton” (April 13-May 1, 2022): Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning smash, which played a sold-out three-week run here in 2018, tells the story of America’s birth with a hip-hop score and an unconventional look at how history is made.

“Pretty Woman” (May 31-June 5, 2022): Another movie-turned-musical, based on the flick that made Julia Roberts a star.

“Cats” (June 21-26, 2022): As if the 2019 movie wasn’t enough!

“Hadestown” (July 19-24, 2022): The winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

“Anastasia” (Feb. 18-13, 2022): A holdover from the truncated 2019-2020 season.

Tickets to the seven-show series begin at $257, and are currently on sale via Ticketmaster.
