Twelve people living in transitional housing were displaced following a laundry room fire Wednesday morning in the Five Corners area.

Crews with the Vancouver Fire Department and Clark County Fire District 6 responded shortly before 11 a.m. to 7716 N.E. 105th Court for a residential structure fire, according to Jesse Martin, a Vancouver firefighter and spokesman.

The first arriving crews called for additional rigs after seeing smoke coming from the front door of the two-story house, Martin said.

All of the residents had evacuated. No one was injured.

Firefighters found a blaze in the laundry room, which they brought under control in about 20 minutes, Martin said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents, he said.

In total, the Vancouver Fire Department sent three engines and a ladder truck, Martin said, and Fire District 6 sent one engine.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
