Portland police have identified the person who was killed in Northeast Portland Thursday night, in a shooting that also left two others hospitalized.

Officers said Shawndell DeShazo II, 28, died of gunshot wounds at a hospital. Police did not offer any details about the circumstances of the shooting or whether they have identified a suspect, but said DeShazo’s death was ruled a homicide.

Police said they responded to Northeast 66th Avenue and Broadway Street around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, where they found two victims with gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to the hospital in an ambulance and are believed to have nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police said they also learned that a third victim, later identified as DeShazo, was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, and died at the hospital.

Around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, police found another man who had been shot and killed near North Portland’s Farragut Park.

Officials ask anyone with information about the Northeast Portland shooting to contact Detective Erik Kammerer at Erik.Kammerer@portlandoregon.gov /503-823-0762.
