Letter: Inslee should take responsibility

By Steve Wilson, Vancouver

Gov. Jay Inslee needs to rethink his budget. At this time there should be no new programs and no new taxes. He is responsible for shutting down the revenue flow with his many stay-at-home orders.

Since the state needs more money, Gov. Inslee needs to take responsibility for his personal decisions that have cost the people of Washington many millions of dollars, including his decision to run for president of the United States. Once he left the state, the lieutenant governor was in charge and any protection detail should have gone to him, not to Gov. Inslee.

It seems that when I make a personal decision, I am the one who pays for it, but when Jay Inslee makes a personal decision, the taxpayers of Washington state are expected to pick up the cost.

Until we get through this pandemic and everything is back to normal there should be no new taxes or programs. Gov. Inslee needs to live with the funds provided, not be looking for more money and adding more programs.
