Letter: Actions must have consequences

So, if we do nothing we are saying: It’s OK to destroy public property, to desecrate our House and Senate chambers, to incite a riot when attempting to destroy a certified election, to invade a branch of the United States government with plastic ties in hand for the purpose of capturing our elected officials, and to attack the Capitol Police — all of this is OK? We the people expect better.

Write your congressmen and congresswomen, text Mike Pence (who the crowd ranted about wanting to hang). Demand the resignation of an acting president and impeachment if the 25th Amendment doesn’t come into play.

The perpetrators of illegal actions must have consequences. No one is above the law, and it does start at the top.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
