PORTLAND — A landslide that brought down hundreds of yards of debris onto West Burnside near the Wildwood Trail will likely not be cleared until late Tuesday.

Portland Bureau of Transportation officials said hundreds of cubic yards of debris from adjacent hillsides fell onto the roadway around last Tuesday night during a period of heavy rain and wind. Recent tweets show Portland General Electric crews removing power lines and poles midday Wednesday. PBOT estimates as many as 12 dump truck loads of debris will need to be removed.

West Burnside is closed from Southwest Tichner Drive to Northwest Barnes Road. Crews will need to remove large trees, clear drainage ditches and mop up small debris.

Portland Parks & Recreation expects the Barbara Walker Crossing footbridge and portions of Wildwood Trail will need to remain closed for about a week.
