PORT ORCHARD — A driver was arrested after rear-ending a Washington State Patrol vehicle early Sunday morning on Highway 16 near Tremont Street in Port Orchard.

A 41-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of impairment after striking the state trooper’s car while traveling westbound on Highway 16 just before 12:30 a.m., the Kitsap Sun reported.

The trooper’s vehicle was parked and the lights were flashing while the trooper cleared debris from the road, according to a tweet by Washington State Trooper Chelsea Hodgson.

The state trooper was not injured. The driver of the other vehicle, a Mitsubishi Lanser, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Saint Michael Medical Center in Silverdale.

The driver, from Belfair, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless endangerment of an emergency worker and driving on a suspended license.
