Letter: Republicans must save their party

I grew up in a Republican environment as my grandparents were Theodore Roosevelt Republicans, and my parents were Dwight Eisenhower Republicans. However, I would not have dreamed that the Grand Old Party that my grandparents and parents supported and respected for so many years, would have evolved into such a major catastrophe that exists today. Who is responsible for this political mess that the GOP finds itself in today? Is it Donald J. Trump? Well, he doesn’t deserve all the credit, I believe, although he surely accelerated its progress.

It’s my opinion the Republican Party members bear the majority of the responsibility for the destruction of the party’s principles and their way of thinking which was the party’s guiding light for over 160 years. Why? Because the party would not stand up to Trump when he was lying and misleading the people who were buying his snake oil and drinking his Kool-Aid.

Now I know that many of the Republicans are thinking that they are on the right path, but let me tell you, your party is in serious disarray. The clock is ticking, you need to get to work now before it’s too late.
