WASHOUGAL — The Camas-Washougal Community Chest, a local nonprofit organization, awarded emergency grants to two local nonprofit organizations that deliver essential services to homeless families in Camas and Washougal. ReFuel Washougal operates a severe weather shelter in the Washougal Senior Center whenever the overnight temperature drops below 30 degrees. The grant will help buy kitchen supplies. The second grantee, St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Washougal, offers an overnight Stay Safe Program in their parking lot for homeless families sleeping in their vehicle. The grant will allow the church to install a washer and dryer for families to use. The Camas-Washougal Community Chest is evaluating another 29 grants and plan to issue more in March.
