HARNEY HEIGHTS — Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School teacher Shari Perea was recently selected for the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms program. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Perea is one of 71 teachers, selected for their academic and professional achievement, who will travel abroad through the program. The yearlong program is a professional development opportunity to help equip teachers to bring an international perspective to their schools. “I finished my coursework in December. We have a symposium in February in Washington, D.C., virtual most likely, and I will be traveling to South Korea with my cohort sometime after May 1, depending on COVID-19 restrictions,” Perea said.
