Letter: Plan to curtail illegal fireworks

By Phyllis Waldron, Vancouver
Published: January 27, 2021, 6:00am

Before the Clark County councilors rush to reinstate the use of highly explosive fireworks for the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve, I would like for them to offer a concrete plan to curtail the illegal use of fireworks. Every year, we are forced to endure blasts from the middle of June until the end of July, and for at least a week following New Year’s Eve.

First, develop a plan to put some teeth into apprehending and charging those individuals who break the law if you, as councilors, are determined to ignore the needs of those people who are medically impacted by the use of these toxic explosive devices.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
