WASHOUGAL — Thanks to a grant from the Camas-Washougal Community Chest, as well as donations from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Camas-Washougal, Washougal School District Early Learning was able to provide “Summer Learning, Summer Fun” packets for students entering kindergarten in the fall. The workbooks are filled with prompts to practice skills in letters, numbers, reading, writing and math. If they complete the workbook before Aug. 31, the first day of school, students will be given three more books. “Our goal is to reach every Washougal student who will benefit from this summer learning packet,” Lisa Young, Washougal School District extended learning manager, said in a news release praising the two organizations. “As a community, we are fortunate to benefit from their sustained care and commitment of resources to education.”
