Letter: Field trip offers photo op

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s recent trip to Portland expressing concern over policing in a geographical area she has no responsibility in representing smells of partisan politics. Another Republican strategy toward the 2022 midterms. More maneuvers like this will take place before these elections. I question the sincerity of the trip. Her comments about not needing a nonpartisan review commission to study the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol are another strategy to take attention away from Trump’s maneuvers to set up this activity. I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump and the Proud Boys colluded to create more chaos in Portland to highlight his “law and order” political strategy.
