Letter: Vote to protect the nation

Recent attacks on America bring questions to mind.

Regarding the Jan. 6 insurrection: Why not call it what it was — treason — and publicly punish every individual found to be guilty of planning, organizing or participating in it, as well as all who aided and abetted the insurrectionists, or encouraged or incited others to participate?

While I do not personally favor the death penalty, Republicans seem to love it, and since they constantly declare themselves “pro-America,” they have no reasonable argument against such proper punishment for those who tried to overthrow America.

This will never happen, of course. Republicans would not stand for it, because the process of prosecuting these individuals would further expose their extreme hypocrisy.

Consider their constant, blatant attacks on your right to vote, and their ignorant push to remove racial truth from our classrooms. What is clear is that there is only one way to stop this tyrannical destruction while we still can: by voting in the midterms, and voting Democratic.

If it isn’t stopped now, we may soon be forced to watch the Republican “cult of Trump” install their king and permanently remove our right to vote at all.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
