Prairie’s Rob Smith selected 3A state wrestling coach of the year

Prairie wrestling coach Rob Smith was selected the 3A state coach of the year by the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association.

Smith has been the wrestling coach at Prairie for 17 years. During his tenure, the Falcons have had five individual state champions and 63 state placers. In 2019-20, Smith led Prairie to its first 3A Greater St. Helens League title and its first district championship. The Falcons also placed seventh at state.

Other coaches honored were Chris Feist of Tahoma (4A), Jamie Rakevich of W.F. West (2A), Mike Gonzales of Zillah (1A), Braden Davis of Liberty-Spangle (B) and Travis Mango of Federal Way (girls).
