OLD EVERGREEN HIGHWAY — Family and friends, including current and former elected officials, gathered for the 50th wedding anniversary — called a Golden Jubilee — of Carolyn and Don Bonker on July 10 at Jane Weber Evergreen Arboretum.

Don Bonker was elected as Clark County auditor in 1966 and was invited by Dr. Vince and Jane Weber to move into the historic Stanger House. The couple was later married at the garden that is now the arboretum. The couple lived in the Stanger House until Don’s election to Congress in 1974.

At the event, the couple shared reflections of their marriage and memories of their time at the Stanger House. Lt. Gov. Denny Heck dedicated a commemorative stone to the husband and wife to honor their commitment and years of public service.
