Letter: Health workers should be vaccinated

I read with unbelievable disappointment about the number of unvaccinated employees that tested positive for COVID-19 recently at PeaceHealth hospital in Vancouver.

It’s been advised over and over again by the CDC and many, many health care leaders that fully vaccinated individuals greatly reduce or eliminate the likelihood of severe symptoms (and death) from COVID-19. Yet some of these “experts” don’t heed their own advice and haven’t required their employees to be vaccinated. You know, the same employees that have direct patient contact.

There are schools, colleges and employers of all variety that require their employees to be fully vaccinated. I guess I have higher expectations of medical facilities and hospitals than they do.

Dear Health Care Leaders, when it comes to your employees, here’s an idea: Tell them to get vaccinated or get another job. If not, you’d better update your liability insurance because you know it’s only a matter of time before you’re held accountable.
