Letter: Honest debate being replaced

“Open honest debate” has been replaced with “It’s my way or the highway.” Locally, YouTube removed Vancouver Public Schools’ video of their July 13 board meeting because it violated “its community standards for spreading misinformation.” How arrogant to not allow the public to arrive at their own conclusions.

At the national level: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected two House Republicans from participating on the Jan. 6 probe panel. Her justification: “With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee.” And yet, she was very comfortable appointing Adam Schiff (who is totally partisan) to the panel.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
