Five goals by five different players and four saves in goal by Rory McDonald helped the Union boys soccer team to a 5-0 win over Heritage on Tuesday.

The Titans’ win moves them into a tie for first in the 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League. Both teams have nine wins and a tie for 28 points.

Camas plays at Union on Thursday.

Garik Shevchuk goal off an assist from Hakim Nazim was the only scoring in the first half Tuesday.

Nazim scored a goal in the second half along with Alejandro Andrade, Isaiah Bunda and Ethan Erdahl.

Softball pairings reshuffled

The 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League softball tournament was reshuffled on Tuesday with news Heritage was withdrawing due to COVID.

With the No. 4 seeded Timberwolves out, all teams below them moved up one spot.

That not only remade the pairings for today’s first-round games, it also eliminated the need for a play-in game Tuesday between No. 9 seed Camas and No. 8 seed Kelso.

Camas is now the No. 8 seed and will face top-seeded Battle Ground. Kelso is No. 7 and will face No. 2 Skyview.

Stars of the day

  • Aidan Hermansen, Heritage baseball, went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored in a 8-7 win over Evergreen. The Timberwolves advance to face No. 1 seed Skyview in the 4A/3A GSHL district tournament.
  • Rose Ugbinada, Fort Vancouver bowling, had a teamhigh 204 game and 496 series in a win over Mark Morris.
