4A/3A baseball-softball roundup: Prairie baseball shuts out Battle Ground, 7-0

The seventh-seeded Prairie Falcons baseball shut out No. 2 Battle Ground 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the 4A/3A tournament on Wednesday and earned a spot in Saturday’s semifinals against No. 3 Camas.

Ryan McClintock pitched a complete-game, scattering seven hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk.

Collin Schiller went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI, Jaden Upton was 3 for 3 with an RBI, and Brandon Baum was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI.

Camas held rival Union, the No. 6 seed, to four hits in an 8-3 victory.

Zach Blair went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and RBI, and Drew Hancock was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Prairie and Camas will open Saturday’s semifinals at 10 a.m. at Propstra Stadium.

The second semifinal will feature No. 5 Mountain View vs. No. 1 Skyview at 1 p.m.

Skyview defeated Heritage 13-3 in five innings on Wednesday, while Mountain View won at No. 4 Kelso 9-5.

Seth Minor was 2 for 4 with an RBI for Skyview, while Kyle Memarian, Cade Reitzenstein, and Brady Davis each had two RBI.

Mountain View’s big hitter was Riley McCarthy as he went 3 for 3 with a double and three RBI plus he closed out the final two innings on the mound with three strikeouts.

Jacob Martin was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI and scored three runs for the Thunder.

Following the semifinals, the championship game is schedule for 4 p.m.

4A/3A softball

Lauren Johnson singled in the winning run with two outs in the seventh inning as Skyview beat Kelso 4-3 in the 4A/3A softball tournament Wednesday.

Maddi Scull, who was 4 for 4 with three doubles, knocked in the tying run just prior to the winning at-bat.

Addie MacPherson, who doubled to start the rally, struck out 15 batters and walked two in the three-hitter.

Skyview advances to play Mountain View at 10 a.m. Saturday at Camas High School in the tournament semifinals.

Mountain View beat Evergreen 4-1. Waverly Iverson went 2 for 3 with a triple, and Mary Fogg was 2 for 4 to lead the Plainsmen’s offense. Bre King struck out eight in seven innings for the win.

The second semifinal has top-seed Battle Ground facing off with rival Prairie at 1 p.m. at Camas.

Battle Ground topped Camas 7-3 on Wednesday as Mallory Meyer struck out 13 batters without a walk, and Alexandra Traffalis went 3 for 3 with three RBI and two stolen bases. Rylee Rehbein was 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Azlin Wong was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and Alexis Leone was 2 for 4 for Camas.

Prairie was able to hold off Union 5-4, scoring four runs in the third inning to make up a 3-0 deficit and adding an insurance run in the sixth.

Jade Hayslip was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and also hit a three-run home run.

The championship game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
