Letter: Accountability for death of child

While I was appalled by the systematic depraved abuse of a 15-year-old child, I was somewhat heartened to note the arrest warrants for the adoptive parents of Karreon Franks for second-degree murder and homicide by abuse. Here’s hoping for their quick apprehension, trial and conviction, followed by a bread-and-water diet for 25 years.

However, I believe that the prosecuting attorney’s office has failed to charge others who are equivalently, if not equally, to blame. Why, with all the prior contact and warnings Child Protective Services had with the child, did they not protect him and his brothers by removing them from the home? In my opinion, this needs to be investigated and prosecuted, not just swept under the rug. There must be accountability for CPS.
