Prep roundup: Bay girls finish unbeaten league season with win over Woodland

Jaydia Martin scored 21 points as the Hudson’s Bay girls basketball team wrapped up the 2A Greater St. Helens League title with a 71-17 win over Woodland.

The win improved the Eagles to 7-0 in league play. Bay will host the winner of one of Monday’s playoff games in the second round of the league playoff on Tuesday.

Mahaila Harrison scored 17 points and Paytin Ballard added 13 for the Eagles.

Girls basketball

WASHOUGAL 66, RIDGEFIELD 37 — Jaiden Bea had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Panthers wrapped up league play in second place in the 2A GSHL.

Washougal will await the winner of Monday’s Ridgefield-R.A. Long game in Tuesday’s second round of the 2A GSHL playoffs.

Skylar Bea had 10 points and 16 rebounds, as she moved past the 800 points/800 rebounds threshold for her career.

Senior McKenna Jackson returned after being cleared following knee surgery last fall.

HOCKINSON 70, MARK MORRIS 37 — Gracie Brammer had 14 points as Hockinson raced out to 42-12 halftime lead and cruised to victory.

Abby Willette added 12 for the Hawks and Kyle Ritter had 11.

Emma Fisher has 12 rebounds for the Monarch, and Bella Merzoian scored 11 points.

The two teams will meet again Monday to open the 2A Greater St. Helens League playoffs.

Girls bowling

FORT VANCOUVER 2229, COLUMBIA RIVER 2066 — Rose Ugbinada rolled a 602 series with games of 236-164-202) as Fort Vancouver won the 2A Greater St. Helens League finale at Allen’s Crosley Lanes.

The Trappers and Rapids will share the league title with 9-1 records, having beat each other.

Columbia River’s high series came from Megan Marino with a 558 (158-199-201), and Nina Albrecht had the Rapids’ high game with a 246 as part of a 558 series.

The 2A season concludes with a district tournament Wednesday at Triangle Bowl in Longview.
