Letter: Who would you want as teacher?

Two gentlemen placed their opposing opinions in The Columbian recently. The first was “Teach real history of the United States” by Ed Hamilton Rosales (The Columbian, May 30), and that opinion was responded to by Jeff Dacus in “Column pushes people apart” (Our Readers’ Views, June 2).

I did some research on both men. They’re from Vancouver, each says they teach history. They each have college or university educations. Jeff has three master’s degrees. Jeff is a retired Marine and has a book on World War II. After reading their backgrounds I am sure you will come to a fast conclusion as to where they stand on issues such as teaching the truth.

I am a retired teacher/administrator. It was only because of the G.I. Bill and a couple NSF scholarships I was able to get my master’s, principal papers and e-certified in several vocational fields.

Do some research as I did, and make your decision who you would want to be your teacher.
