Letter: City council isn’t listening

It looks like Vancouver City Council members are at it again. They claim to listen to the voters but they do not hear what is being said. Two examples are the downtown parking on Columbia Street (thank you Bart Hansen for listening and hearing) and the proposed apartment heights and parking requirements surrounding the Tower Mall redevelopment project.

Please note we are not against the Tower Mall redevelopment project, as it offers many benefits to all of us. But we are opposed to apartment heights of five, six or seven stories across from residential housing and parking requirements of less than one spot per unit on apartments that surround the Tower Mall property.

And if you live in the Heights area, we strongly recommend you get involved in your neighborhood association to become aware of the changes coming to your neighborhood.

Again, city council members are not hearing what the voters are saying. It is time for some fresh ears on the city council.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
