Man shot Saturday in North Portland dies Sunday at hospital

PORTLAND — A 19-year-old man police found while investigating reports of a shooting Saturday night in the St. Johns neighborhood died Sunday evening in a hospital.

Police discovered Alexander Douglas Martinson, of Fairview, while responding to reports of a shooting at North Columbia Way and North Midway Avenue just before 10 p.m. Martinson, critically wounded, was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.

The shooting comes two days after a man was shot and killed Thursday in Northeast Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood. Portland police have not identified the victim in that shooting or said whether they have identified a suspect.
