A wildfire southeast of Mount Hood has grown to approximately 6,700 acres since Friday night, while another fire in Klamath County has spread to 1,000 acres, according to fire officials.

The S-503 fire, located on the north end of the Warm Springs Reservation, is 0% contained and moving southeast, according to officials from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs’ fire management office.

“The perimeter of the fire is changing rapidly,” they wrote in a statement on Facebook Sunday morning.

The fire, first reported Friday around 6 p.m., is roughly 2 miles east of Highway 26 and 8 miles north of Simnasho, as of Monday morning. Officials said the cause of the fire is unknown. Winds on Sunday pushed the fire closer to Highway 26.

Around 300 firefighters were working Sunday to try to establish a new control line along both the northeast and southwest flanks of the fire. Officials said they were concerned the fire could put structures in the Pine Grove area to the northeast at risk and that it could spread southwest as winds shift later Sunday.

Temperatures in the high 90s and low relative humidity will elevate fire weather concerns through Monday, officials said.

A level three “Go Now” evacuation order is in effect for a small area of Kelley Springs Road northeast of the fire, according to officials. A level two “Be Set” evacuation order, meaning residents should be ready to leave at a moment’s notice, is in place for areas east of Kelley Springs to Reservation Road, including Walters Corners and the community of Pine Grove.

A second wildfire reported Saturday in Southern Oregon has grown to 1,000 acres with no containment and is threatening 125 structures, according to a Sunday press release from Klamath County Emergency Management, Oregon Department of Forestry and BLM Lakeview District.

The Cutoff fire is burning on Bureau of Land Management property about 6 miles north of Bonanza, a small town in Klamath County. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said.

Klamath County Emergency Management has ordered a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation for the area east of Bly Mountain Cutoff Road, west of Hummingbird Drive and south to Keno Springs Road.

A level 2 “Get Set” evacuation order is in place for the area east of Bly Mountain Cutoff Road, north to Keno Springs Road, west of Forest Service Road 3812 and 3 miles south.

A level 1 “Get Ready” evacuation order warning was issued for the area east of Bly Mountain Cutoff Road, north to Highway 140 and Kingfisher Drive, west of Hummingbird Drive and south to Grizzly Lane.
