Letter: City council is not listening

I recently saw on Nextdoor someone was concerned about potentially restricted parking for veterans on Columbia Street that the city council is soon replacing with a bike lane. I do not have anything against bike lanes, but there needs to be an understanding of the consequences of their placement.

Unfortunately, this is not the only thing that the city council has pushed on us. They are spreading their agendas to the East McLoughlin Area, the Heights District, and others. We need to stop this spread. People and neighborhoods have banded together to speak to the city council looking for compromises. The city council has a great outreach program, but what good does it do if the city does not listen?

Unfortunately, some of these projects are a done deal, but we need to change the city council members to members who listen with their ears and heart. Please get educated on the new mayor and city council members running for office in August and November, and vote.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
