I want to thank Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, for her recent stands against the coup attempt by the previous administration and its supporters.
I have not supported many of her previous political positions. She stood too many times with a corrupt administration for clearly political and party reasons. But a line was crossed and it became no longer political for our congresswoman. Our country’s security, and our democracy, were on the line. Congresswoman Herrera Beutler separated politics and acted in the interest of the United States of America. She could no longer support the sedition being propagated by others in her party. Integrity was needed to protect our national interests, the underpinnings of our country’s democracy, and she separated herself from the terrorist and white supremacist wing of the Republican Party.
Jaime Herrera Beutler stepped away from politics for a moment, performed the highest duty of her office, and stood up for her county. In doing so, she represented all of us. Thank you for your courage, Congresswoman Herrera Beutler.
