Week 1 prep athlete of the week: Morgan Harter, Ridgefield volleyball

Harter received 321 of the 1,071 votes cast this week

Morgan Harter of Ridgefield volleyball is the Week 1 high school prep athlete of the week.

Harter received 321 of the 1,071 votes to win the honor.

The junior averaged 21 assists, nine kills, nine digs and two aces in three wins for the Spudders.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again this sports season.

The other nominees were:

  • LARA CARRION, SETON CATHOLIC CROSS COUNTRY: The junior ran the 5,000-meter course at Harmony Sports Complex in 18:55 against Columbia and King’s Way Christian.
  • LANDON GUNTER, PRAIRIE CROSS COUNTRY: The senior edged out Kelso’s Drew Norman at the wire, winning on Kelso’s 2.9-mile course in 16:20.
  • OWEN HUNTINGTON, CAMAS BOYS GOLF: The senior shot an even-par 36 at Camas Meadows in a win over Battle Ground.
  • KATI WAGGONER, HOCKINSON GIRLS SOCCER: The senior scored a goal in each the Hawks’ wins last week, including the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Columbia River.
