C-Tran to add longer buses to Route 37 this month

C-Tran announced Thursday that it will add two 60-foot articulated buses to the regular rotation of vehicles running on Route 37, beginning Monday. A few stops will use slightly different boarding locations to accommodate the vehicles.

The 60-foot buses are the type that normally run on C-Tran’s commuter routes to Portland, which were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Most buses on Route 37 will still be regular 40-foot vehicles.

C-Tran described the move as a temporary change to offer more seats and help keep distance between passengers during the pandemic. An end date is not currently planned and will likely be determined based on vaccination rates and statewide distancing rules, according to C-Tran spokeswoman Chris Selk.
