Krispy Kreme offers free doughnut every day for rest of 2021 for anyone with Covid-19 vaccination card

Krispy Kreme wants to give you a free doughnut for getting a Covid-19 vaccination. And you don’t have to rush: You can take advantage of this offer any day – or every day – for the rest of 2021.

You can now walk into any of the company’s shops nationwide, flash the card showing you’ve been vaccinated, and walk out with an “Original Glazed” doughnut at no cost.

“This is the first day we’re doing this,” a Krispy Kreme team member at the Southeast Portland shop told The Oregonian/OregonLive Monday morning. “We’ve had a few people come in already [for a free doughnut]. I’m not sure how busy it’s going to get. We’ll see.”

They’re not adding staff in expectation of a deluge, said the team member, who didn’t want to give their name for publication. But they are making extra original glazed doughnuts – the only option for the freebie – so they don’t get caught short.

The point of the promotion, chief marketing officer Dave Skena has said, is to “spread awareness” about the importance of the vaccines in stopping the deadly pandemic. “I think anything anyone can do to help show support for those getting the vaccine is a good thing right now, and so we’re just trying to do what little we can.”

Krispy Kreme has announced it’s providing paid time off for its employees to get vaccinated.

The company, headquartered in North Carolina, has Portland-area locations at 9950 S.E. 82nd Ave., in Portland; 16415 N.W. Cornell Road in Beaverton; and 8517 N.E. Andresen Road in Vancouver.
