The may not have had a home court this unusual boys tennis season, but Mountain View still feels right at home atop the 3A Greater St. Helens League.

The Thunder capped a fourth consecutive season of undefeated league play by beating Evergreen 5-1 in the 3A GSHL title match Thursday at Evergreen.

Mountain View’s Vincent Hsu, one of five seniors on the team, won at No. 1 singles over Evergreen’s Finn Chenevert 7-5, 6-1. He leaves the program without having a team loss in league play.

“He has been a huge part of our program and one of the best kids I’ve ever been around,” Mountain View coach Nick Frost said. “We haven’t lost a league match with him, going 26-0 with him anchoring our lineup. Not only have we won every league match, but we have also won multiple district titles and league titles with him.”

In doubles, Mountain View’s Trey Gillespie and Lucas Gillespie came back from a set down to defeat Corey Hing and William Goth 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Mountain View had to play all its “home” matches at Union High School due to construction on the Mountain View campus.
