Clark County COVID-19 cases show uptick over weekend, one new death reported

Weekend total works out to about 47 new cases a day, up from about 37 new cases a day last week

An uptick in COVID-19 cases in Clark County that started last week picked up steam over the weekend, with an average of about 47 new cases a day, according to Clark County Public Health.

One new death was recorded over the weekend: a woman age 80 or older with underlying health conditions. Her death brings the county’s total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 242, according to Public Health data. Five deaths were recorded last week.

There were 143 new cases reported since Friday, pushing the county’s total to 19,347 cases to date. The three-day average of about 47 cases per day is up from last week’s average of about 37 cases a day, which itself represented an increase from an average of 34 cases a day in the previous two weeks, according to Public Health data.

There were 197 active cases still in their isolation period as of Monday, down from 295 on Friday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations were down, with 18 people hospitalized with COVID-19, compared with 22 on Friday, and two people hospitalized awaiting test results, compared with nine on Friday, according to Public Health.

Public Health reported that Clark County has been allocated 14,330 first doses and 12,700 second doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be administered during the period of March 29 through April 4.

As of March 24, there had been 133,330 doses administered in Clark County, with 106,660 Clark County residents with at least one dose and 51,454 fully vaccinated.
