Prep Highlights: Hockinson baseball starts season 2-0

Ryan Warnke’s walk-off RBI single gave Hockinson baseball a 5-4 win over Washougal on Monday.

Warnke went 2 for 3 and scored two runs. That supported a solid pitching effort by Landen Wingerd and Caeden Chambers, who combined to hold Washougal to three hits.

Two of Washougal’s hits came from Nathaniel Olmos, whose RBI double tied the game 3-3 in the fifth inning.

Hockinson is 2-0 after opening with a 3-1 win over Hudson’s Bay on Saturday.

Stars of the day

• Andrew Peru, King’s Way Christian baseball, went 2 for 3 with two doubles, two runs and three RBI in a 11-0 win over Woodland.

• Serafim Apostolpu, Seton Catholic boys soccer, had a goal and assist in a 2-0 win over White Salmon.

• Hailey Paull, Mountain View volleyball, had 15 kills and 22 digs in a 3-1 win over Heritage

• Zanora Sanaloa, Evergreen volleyball, had 18 kills and 10 digs in a five-set win over Battle Ground.

• Bethany Turchardt, Battle Ground volleyball, had 20 kills and 18 digs.
