The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is seeking artists age 18 and under as of Jan. 1, 2022, to enter its Young Artist Competition.

The competition is open to entries from all 50 states. Video applications must be received by Aug. 1; see complete instructions and guidelines at www.vancouversymphony.org.

This year, the symphony is expanding eligibility to young musicians in all 50 states as well as increasing the amount of prize money for each of the winners. Gold medalists win $5,000, silver medalists win $2,000 and bronze medalists win $1,000.

Entrants will compete in piano, strings and woodwinds/brass categories. After initial judging of applications, the top three candidates in each category will compete in Vancouver on Oct. 17.

First place winners will then perform their winning selections with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra on Jan. 22 and 23 at Skyview Concert Hall.
