Letter: Herrera Beutler shows who she is

I have just received a fundraising letter from our representative, Jaime Herrera Beutler. Even though she voted against the American Rescue Plan which provides aid to families, small business, schools, cities, counties, homeowners, and renters, she asserts that she is “worried about how the residents of Southwest Washington are doing.”

Her letter managed to include an astounding number of scary Republican talking points including Joe Biden’s “liberal excesses,” his “radical lurch to the left,” the “far left agenda,” “dangerous immigration policies” and “frightening radical left-wing policies.” Are you ready to give our representative your dollars so that she can protect you from these horrors? But wait, the letter warns that we also must be worried about socialism and our Second Amendment rights. Of course, Rep. Herrera Beutler felt the need to bring up the favored Republican boogeymen and women — Bernie Sanders, AOC, The Squad, and Nancy Pelosi. She missed Hillary!

It looks like our representative is doing her best to get back in the favor of her Republican supporters. Yes, because she saw and felt danger herself, she voted to impeach Donald Trump after years of supporting him and his policies. But her fundraising letter show us unequivocally who she is: another mouthpiece for all Republican talking points. But we already knew that.
