Vancouver police arrested a man Thursday morning on suspicion of domestic violence kidnapping and unlawful discharge of a firearm in an incident involving adult cousins.

Although the altercation was still under investigation Thursday afternoon, police spokeswoman Kim Kapp was able to provide some details.

She said police were dispatched to West Evergreen Boulevard and Jefferson Street at 7:50 a.m. after a caller to 911 reported a disturbance with a weapon.

Witnesses reported hearing shots and seeing a vehicle speeding away from the area.

A few minutes later, police located the vehicle, a light-colored sedan, and stopped it, arresting the driver.

The investigation revealed that the situation involved a man who had allegedly forced his adult cousin into a vehicle, discharging a firearm in the process. No one was reported injured.

The cousin who was forced into the car had a warrant for his arrest and was also taken into custody, Kapp said.

She did not have the names of either person, as the officers were still writing their reports.
