Letter: Walk a mile in their shoes

I would like to respond to Nela Nadeal for her letter “Get a job, you lazy bums” (Our Readers’ Views, April 28). Ms. Nadeal, your comment is highly disrespectful. If you haven’t heard the saying “walk a mile in my shoes,” then maybe you should revisit the quote.

Your attitude is one of the reasons homelessness, mental illness and drug addiction are so difficult to solve. We all need more compassion for people who are down on their luck, especially when we don’t know what circumstances brought a person to their current dilemma.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
