LINCOLN — The Assistance League Southwest Washington recently raised $4,000 during a May Day tea fundraiser for children’s programs. The group offered a tea box gift set for pickup at the First Presbyterian Church in lieu of its usual in-person event. Each box contained a teacup, gourmet teas, baked goods and other gifts to enjoy at home. The funds raised will be used to supply children in 25 local schools with high poverty levels with clothing, shoes and literacy supplies. It will also supply their families with grocery gift cards.
