WASHOUGAL — The Washougal School District’s Adult Transition Program is working to offer young adults with disabilities job skills training and connections with local employers.

“Employers are often surprised by the hard work, positive attitude, and dedication that the students bring to their work,” Jessica Nickels, Washougal Adult Transition Program teacher, said in a news release.

Awareness of the needs for employment opportunities for young adults with disabilities is the subject of the documentary “Hearts of Glass.” Community members, including Camas and Hockinson School District members, will have access to a view the film between June 2-12 thanks to a grant from the Camas-Washougal Community Chest.

To sign up for viewing, go to https://watch.showandtell.film/watch/washougal-hearts-of-glass or the school district’s website.

“The Adult Transition Program helped me be confident in so many ways,” Shelbi Langston, a program participant who works at a local Best Western, said in the release.
