Prep basketball: Fraley helps Kelso girls pull away for win over Heritage

Natalie Fraley scored 12 of her 34 points in the third quarter when Kelso pulled away for a 71-52 win over Heritage in a 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League girls basketball game on Wednesday.

Evermore Kaiser added 14 points, Lexi Grumbois 12 points and Josie Ahrens 11 for Kelso, which only led by three at halftime, 31-28.

Katie Peneueta had 22 points, and Keanna Salavea 18 for Heritage.

WASHOUGAL 75, COLUMBIA RIVER 27 — Jaiden Bea had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Savea Mansfield added 10 points and eight rebounds as the Panthers rolled to victory.

Skylar Bea had 12 points, and Samantha Mederos had 11 points and four assists.

“I really liked how we were unselfish with the ball,” Washougal coach Britney Ervin said. “We were making the extra pass. We had 16 assists as a team.”

PRAIRIE 54, MOUNTAIN VIEW 29 — Claire Heitschmidt scored a game-high 17 points as the Falcons won for the second night in a row.

Prairie’s defense kept Mountain View in single-digit scoring in each quarter.

Lauren Coop and Sydney Horton each had seven points for the Thunder.

HUDSON’S BAY 72, RIDGEFIELD 45 — A 30-4 third quarter broke a 24-24 first half tie as the Eagles took flight for the 2A GSHL victory.

Mahaila Harrison scored a game-high 25 points with 12 coming in the third quarter. Aniyah Hampton added 18 points with 13 in the third.

Also in double figures were Jaydia Martin with 15 and Kamelai Powell with 14.

Ridgefield was led in scoring by Kelli Krsul’s 18 points and she also had nine rebounds and five steals. Grace Goode had 13 points, six rebounds and six steals.

MARK MORRIS 59, FORT VANCOUVER 31 — Emma Fisher had 12 points, and Brookly Schlecht and Lily Koski-Hasse added 10 each for the Monarchs.

Boys basketball

RIDGEFIELD 63, HUDSON’S BAY 41 — Ty Snider and Henry Hughes scored 12 points each, and Juelz Mendoza added 10 as the Spudders won on back-to-back nights.

Up 26-18 at halftime, the Spudder used an 8-0 run to open an 16-point edge and never looked back.

Isaiah David paced Bay with 10 points.

KELSO 61, HERITAGE 51 — Michael Foust had 27 points as the Hilanders pulled away in the second half after being tied 26-26 at halftime.

Marcos Diaz led Heritage with 17 points.

LA CENTER 75, CASTLE ROCK 48 — Riley Fender scored 23 points and Colby Hylton 20 as the Wildcats pulled away in the second half after trailing by three at halftime.

La Center closed out the game with a 29-8 fourth quarter.

Lane Partridge scored 15 points and Trevor Rogen 11 for Castle Rock.
