Letter: Support charter amendments 1-7

I strongly recommend voters approve the County Charter Review Commission’s recommended Amendments 1-7. Why vote yes? No. 1 recommends that the administration of state law be nonpartisan; 2 creates the opportunity in a nonpartisan environment to focus on finding the best solutions for governing the county; 3 returns to equal county council representation; 4 keeps on top of the ever-changing needs in managing; 5 keeps elected officials and staff accountable; 6 provides a systemic process for equal opportunity for all, which could minimize lawsuits against the county; and 7 provides a more transparent county government and updates the 2014 charter.
