Vancouver police arrested a man on suspicion of first-degree murder Sunday after he allegedly stabbed a woman to death.

At 10:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the 2400 block of F Street for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, a man was found outside holding a knife.

Police found a woman inside the home with stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The man was arrested without incident on suspicion of what police called a domestic violence homicide. The couple’s 8-year-old child was located inside the home unhurt.

Police did not release the name of the victim or the suspect, pending notification of relatives.

The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation.
