The woman killed Tuesday when the car she was riding in crashed into a tree southeast of Battle Ground was identified as Samantha K. Smith, 22, of Vancouver, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the car, identified as Joseph Manson, 21, of Vancouver, and another passenger, identified as Issiah Blocker, 21, of Battle Ground, were injured in the crash and taken to a hospital. No condition update was available Wednesday, and the sheriff’s office said Tuesday that the men suffered life-threatening injuries.

Deputies and EMS personnel responded around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to the 21500 block of Northeast Risto Road. Paramedics helped three occupants of a red Mazda. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, and Manson and Blocker were extricated from the car, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Deputies determined the car was speeding when it left the road and hit the tree, according to the sheriff’s office.
