How Clark County College Football Players Fared, Nov. 13

Local players winning on, off field at Central Washington

The Central Washington University football team is winning on the field and in the classroom, with players from Clark County playing a big role.

Saturday, Central Washington clinched the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship with a 70-0 win over Simon Fraser. The Wildcats (8-2, 4-0) will face Northwest Missouri State in the first round of the NCAA Division-II playoffs next Saturday.

Off the field, a conference-leading 31 Wildcats were named to the GNAC Football All-Academic team.

Four of those used to play in the Greater St. Helens Leagues. Isaiah Carbajal (Mountain View, 3.51 GPA), Tyler Flanagan (Woodland, 3.51), Will Ortner (Hockinson, 3.72) and Titan Phillips (Camas, 3.96) were all honored for their academic prowess.

On the field, Clark County players have also played a big role in a program that has heavily recruited Southwest Washington. Flanagan ranks second on the team in rushing yards (473) and rushing touchdowns (5). Max Randle (Battle Ground) and Kai Gamble (Union) have started several games on defense.

Here are how other collegiate football players from Clark County fared.

Army

Butte College

Central Washington

Will Ortner, Hockinson, Sr.*, OL — Started at left tackle for an offense that gained 495 yards.

College of Idaho

Last game: Lost to Carroll College 21-6 to fall to 7-3 both overall and in the Frontier Conference.

College of the Siskiyous

Last game: Lost to American River 70-13 to fall to 1-7.
