Letter: Teach faith to your children

With this pandemic, we and our children are uncertain about the future of the world, and about who will get sick next. So why don’t we give our children the comfort, joy and hope of belief in a Divine Creator and his love for each one of us, and belief in eternal life waiting for us after our lives on Earth are over?

First, parents may need a refresher course for themselves to strengthen their own faith. First of course is the Holy Bible. Another book I recommend is “Language of God” by Francis S. Collins. Collins headed the Human Genome Project and is now the head of the National Institutes of Health. His research revealed a mind-boggling, magnificent genetic system too brilliant to be developed by evolution alone.

After gathering is safe again, you might take your children to church, mosque, temple, gurdwara or synagogue to be in a religious atmosphere where they can absorb lovely hymns, prayers and rituals in a religious atmosphere with other believers.

I am a devout Christian. I think that the creator, whether he is called God, Allah, Elohim, Jehovah, The Divine One, Higher Power, or Waheguru, yearns for our love and devotion. And as an American, I believe in “freedom of religion” — the freedom to choose one’s own religion.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
