Jack White has a doubleheader on the cards for 2022.

“Fear of the Dawn,” due April 8, and “Entering Heaven Alive,” due July 22, will be the fourth and fifth studio albums of the Detroit native’s solo career, and his latest since 2018’s “Boarding House Reach.” The pair of albums will join a lengthy catalog of work that began with the White Stripes’ self-titled debut in 1999.

A media release offered little detail about the new albums’ musical directions, saying only that they are “defined by different inspirations, different themes, different moods.” Both will be released in an assortment of formats, including five limited-edition LP variations in keeping with Third Man Records’ devotion to vinyl.

Track lists announced Thursday do reveal at least one special guest: Rapper Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest) will appear on a “Fear of the Dawn” cut titled “Hi-De-Ho.”

Thursday also brought the premiere of White’s new video for “Taking Me Back,” leadoff track from the forthcoming April album.

White’s album plans cap a 2021 that has included the launch of Jack White Art & Design — an online storehouse for his career’s multidisciplinary work — and the opening of Third Man’s London store, following locations in Detroit and Nashville.
