Letter: Look at where our country is

It was delightful to read Asher Musgrave’s thoughts and opinions (“We should work for our rewards,” Our Readers’ Views, Nov. 20). Kudos to Asher! Many adults do not have the insight that this young man has already acquired. Our country was built on our ability to use our own self-reliance to reach our goals. Not on handouts.

We are now where no one deals with the realities of life’s traumas without the government wanting to pay for making them feel better. It seems our present government cannot abide hurt feelings or deal with loss or not winning.

Take a minute and look at where our country is now in 2021 as opposed to where it was in 2019; we would see crisis at our southern border, higher taxes (Democrats have never seen a tax they didn’t like) a disastrous withdrawal from a 20-year war where President Biden refused to listen to his military commanders. Our allies look at us with wonder and disbelief. Building supplies are almost impossible to find and are twice the cost they were a year ago. Gas prices have increased (our oil self-sufficiency has been shut down). We are looking at higher interest rates and rising inflation. What’s not to like about this administration?
