Letter: Mask mandates protect children

I am in total disbelief as I watch parents on TV lacing profanity and threatening school officials concerning mask mandates. These officials are simply trying to protect the children from the deadly coronavirus, which has already killed over 450 children in the United States and sickened thousands more.

Some of these parents have political views so intense, they don’t even realize they are playing Russian roulette with their children’s lives. Playing that game, sooner or later, the bullet will land in the chamber. Having lost a child over 30 years ago, I only wish I could have protected my child’s life by simply putting a mask over his nose and mouth.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
