Vote “No” on Proposition No. 10, which seeks to increase sales taxes to fund juvenile detention centers and maybe more body cameras for police. Until law enforcement gets serious about not hiring racist, white nationalists and stop the “circling the wagons” mentality to protect irresponsible officers, I’m not in favor of greater financial support. Bodycams are helpful only when they are not “accidentally” turned off during an arrest, and footage is only helpful when it’s released in total and not selectively edited. Serious and thoughtful police reforms need to happen, and not just window dressing to protect their status quo.
